Retail Premises Guidelines
Container theft often takes place from licensed premises, pub company depots, or wholesalers.
We know that thieves target “soft” premises where kegs/casks (containers) are not kept under secure conditions.
To help us combat the problem, you should:
- Keep containers secure where possible
- Keep control of the keys, where containers are kept locked away
- Try not to put containers out for collection until the draymen have arrived
- Always check the credentials of people coming to collect empty containers
- Check the number of containers that draymen take away with them
- Ensure staff are aware of the risks to containers and act accordingly
